Here are some resources to start getting the wheels turning on the personality tool called The Enneagram:
Books:
- Riso & Hudson’s The Wisdom of the Enneagram.
- Christopher L. Heuertz’s The Sacred Enneagram.
- Richard Rohr’s The Enneagram: A Christian Perspective
Podcasts/websites:
Story Podcast. Put forth by a group that seeks to inspire “creatives”….Story does a special feature on the Enneagram… highlighting how different numbers reflect different aspects of God. It’s also a great introduction into the different numbers, though a lot of it talks about 2, 3, and 4).
Liturgists Podcast. I particularly liked how this podcast emphasized that the nine different types can be thought of as colors because, while all 9’s are the color blue (for example), there so many different shades of blue. Also, I loved how they emphasized NOT typing people and NOT reducing people to their number. And, how the Enneagram is not hugely researched-backed, but it IS useful for personal growth and discovery.
The Road Back to You Podcast: A podcast exclusively created to teach and share insights about the Enneagram. SO many different episodes to choose from, woo!
The Enneagram Institute: Learn about the basics. What people are saying is that reading about it and going to a workshop are the best ways to figure out your number. But, there is a test you can buy on this site ($12) if you want. There are also free tests you can take online.
May we grow into and live out of our authentic selves.
Warmly, Robyn
