Identify What Can Wait

As I’m writing this, I’m looking at toys strewn across my living room floor as well as a laundry basket overflowing with clean clothes. This mess … can wait. (And for that matter, whatever else might be vying for my attention… can wait.)

Those things—while in some moments, take priority— in this moment, they don’t.

In this moment, what I deeply want and need is a tiny little break to be, and to nourish my soul.

Writing is one thing (that is available and appealing to me in this moment) that helps to nourish my soul. It might be quite different for you. And of course that is okay, and great. Let’s celebrate the unique ways that we’re made, and honor the unique circumstances that we’re each in.

Of course sometimes our circumstances won’t allow (or make it extremely difficult) for us to take a break. But when we can take the time to take a moment, let’s! Or at least let’s try!

And, to extra clarify, there is no shame or judgment in my tone– just a big wide invitation to be curious and gentle with ourselves in this moment.

May we let ourselves rest, when we can. 💓

Ok, alas, back to the things that I need to do. 🙂 Things to reflect on– if you want to!

Warmly,

Robyn

Something else that can wait is… going to the beach right now. While I may really really want to go here right now, it is also something that can wait. To bring some lightness to this conversation. 🙂
