The Power of Buying a Farm! Or at least Getting Out and Imagining:)

An eerie layer of smoke has been hugging LA for awhile now. The other weekend was particularly tricky, difficult, and sad, for me at least. On a whim, my husband, baby, and I decided to jump in the car and drive to Ventura County…. to look at farms to buy! For fun. We had watched the documentary, The Biggest Little Farm, the night before and got inspired. 🙂

I took this picture from the passenger seat, leaving LA.

Due to the hazardous smoke in the air, we couldn’t spend time out of the car– but it did give us a concrete reason for leaving the apartment.

This experience reminded me that…. there is something so powerful about:

  • literally getting outside of where you typically reside, and
  • exercising the imagination

Exercising the body is, of course, great when you’re able to– but exercising the imagination also has really refreshing, positive benefits:

Our drive sparked thoughts and ideas. Not only were we temporarily launched into a whole new world of thoughts and ideas (not related to the handful of topics we usually think and talk about), but also we were refreshed when we got back home to the same, small apartment we spend most of our time in these days.

And, get this:

Imagination turns the lights on throughout the brain, creating billions of new connections. This ability to form new connections through imagination and dreaming into the future is our ultimate human gift, allowing us to move beyond our limitations, creating new possibilities and realities that would not otherwise be possible.

Kids Without Limits, Anat Baniel

Imagining things helps us find solutions to things that we may not have come up with had we not imagined new possibilities and ways of doing things.

Encouragement to…. get out, exercise the imagination — and dream and envision new possibilities.

Sending love and peace and joy, Robyn

Your baby looks so British 😎

Hope you had fun farm shopping. We’re working towards ours. Just a small garden and a couple hens for now. We left a successful avocado tree in Salinas so we’re trying to start another and plan a few more.

Always fun to hear from you.
